13th is CASA’s Superhero Walk for the Child. This year we are
inviting the community to come celebrate our CASA “Superheroes” and enjoy a
scenic walk/run at the Atascadero Lake Park. Your support of this event continues our mission to advocate for the best interests of local abused and
neglected children. With your support, YOU can help make a “super” difference
in the life of a child in need!

CASA’s Superhero Walk for the Child is a fun way to support CASA’s mission to advocate for the best interests of local abused and neglected children. All proceeds raised from the Walk benefit children in San Luis Obispo County.
In SLO County, there are more than 500 children under the jurisdiction of the county’s Juvenile Dependency Court. Of those, more than 130 children have CASA advocates assigned to them. Our program has gained some great momentum in 2012 and we are very proud of an increase of nearly 20% this year in the number of children with CASA advocates.
Our goal is to provide CASA advocates to an even greater percentage of local children in 2013. This is where you come in! Nearly half of our funding comes from our generous community in the form of donations and fundraisers. Please help us increase our ability to stand up for the rights of abused and neglected children in SLO County!

Q. How far do I have to walk?
A. The trail around Atascadero Lake is 1.1 miles long and you may complete as many or as few laps as you would like. All ages can participate – strollers are welcome! Each lap you complete allows you one entry in our raffle drawing for fun prizes from local businesses!
Q. Is there a charge for the walk?
A. There is no charge for the walk, but you need to raise a minimum of $100 to receive a T-shirt. Additional T-shirts will be available for purchase for $10 at the walk. For teams, each individual on the team must raise a minimum of $100 to be given a shirt. There will be a Grand Prize for the supporter who raises the most funds for CASA.
Q. What if I can’t be there on Walk Day?
A. You can still raise money for CASA’s Walk for the Child. Simply sign up online, tell all your friends why CASA matters to you and start raising funds!
Q. What if it rains?
A. We will still hold the walk, rain or shine – if in doubt, bring an umbrella and jacket with you to the Atascadero Lake on April 13th.
Q. How do I get people to sponsor me?
A. Let friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers, book clubs, play groups, church groups, civic groups and local businesses know that you are raising funds for CASA. Your company may even be willing to match the amount you raise.
